The pages of calendars
How useful they are!
How often we move
Our eyes on the numbers
Trace our seeking fingers
They are not just symbols
But of the parts of our life
They are able counters!
We plan our actions
For the whole year
Our business targets
Our travels and distractions
Our academic endeavors
Our tests and examinations
The process of elections
To democratic powers
In the courts of law
To fix dates of
hearings
To pronounce judgment
The rope to draw!
Our walls they decorate
More important sometimes
Than the days themselves!
As they stand good fortune’s gate
But after the markers of
time
Have passed into oblivion
And we’ve welcomed a new year
Are tossed a degrading dime
No better than garbage
Fit to be thrown into bins
Or to be submitted to ovens
To turn to ash in fire’s rage
It’s sad, man’s head is filled
With the wine termed power
He treats persons like calendars
When he is selfish willed!!
