Home They Brought the Daughter Dead

She was a girl of seventeen
Cute, talented and smart
Attended one of best schools
Among friends dear to heart

She sang and danced well
She was tender as a child
She recited poems sweetly
Her voice mellow and mild

As she stepped into teenage
Changes set in swift and fast
Rebellious and wild she turned
Hoped I, with time it’d be past

Obey parents she would not
Turned deaf ears to advice
Wished to walk her whims way
That brought harm and vice

My hopes were belied total
Too soon she decided to wed
A school going wife she became
To unforeseen pitfalls it led

Seeds of tiffs and strife in her
Were from  past family nature
She’d chosen to enter marriage
A girl unprepared and immature

Frictions and fracas set in many
Willful as she was to her core
One day the news arrived sad
Her in burns to hosp they bore

After days four and a half
The girl breathed her last
Home they brought the daughter
To bid her a farewell fast!

Choices we make many in life
One road of the two we take
One may lead us to the desert
The other may bring to the lake!
