Bloodshed after the Birthday Party

In a posh spread of the city
It was a birthday party
A rich man had aptly thrown
For his doll cute and hearty

The celeb’s teen daughter
Had invited her friends all
Boys and girls of school years
Had received her happy call

The revelers had their fill
Of fun, frolic and food
Even adult pegs were served
In tune with status mood!

But after the party so joyous
A boy in blood was found
Though taken to a hospital
To death his life had wound

What occurred at the car park
None claims to know further
The police say it’s an accident
But signs point to murder

Something is behind the wall
An act hidden or made to hide
Whatever the police might say
Sleuths can’t exclude homicide!

Smash Not a Tender Flower

Smash not a tender flower

Crush not a human person

When you can’t create life -

Have no right to break one!

You may abhor a cockroach

A frog’s croak you may detest

Dislike the long-necked giraffe

In monkeys don’t find any jest

Are allergic to a wall walker lizard

Or hate the feet biting ant

Slander a crawling millipede

Or mock a tank-bellied elephant

Respect the person before you

Though different he may look

He is made in God’s own image

Haven’t you read the Holy Book?

He may not bow his head as you

Like you his knees he doesn’t bend

Will you break his living knees if

To your dear ways he doesn’t mend?

Confined

The children are confined
To the sick room upstairs
They have contacted rash!
Oh, the free squirrels of Eden
 Imprisoned in a punishing cell
They’re itching out to dash!

They’re bored to their bones
The spirits of the wild languish
Sadly, inside the four brick walls
Tick-tick the seconds move
Super lazy are the hour hands
No idea their run who stalls!

One, two, three, four, five
They are counting the days
21, beyond they don’t need
The period scribed by docs
For this curse to blow over
The advice they better heed!

The Complaint of the Little Bird

Outside my window in the bush
Sweetly sang the little bird
Today and many days in past
The heavenly song I’ve heard
In wee moments before sunrise
That awakes the godly and wise
She has sung to me oftentimes
The little angel with heavenly voice!

Her song has accompanied
 My many lone morning praises
When my soul in silent words
Its joys and pains raises
The offering of the dewed flowers
Brought down heaven’s showers
The little singer stood behind me
 Folded wings before God’s powers!

This morning she complained
You never write a poem on me
Am I too small a creature, she said
For your poetic eyes to see
You have written songs pleasing
On insects hidden in grass unceasing
Finding beauty even in cursed crawlers
Can’t you appreciate winged singing?

I did hear your hymn, little angel
The song that gave my soul joy divine
Wishing I had your pure spirit and
Praying for your devoted heart to be mine
But me a sinful flesh living among sinners
With a limping language that often falters
Oppressed by depressing limitations
Failed I have, to lift my pen up to write!

I Surrender Myself to Thee

I surrender myself to thee

I bring to thee this day

Whatever the day may bring

Your loving graces on me lay!

The day may bring me trials

It may present many a test

Hold my hand hold my heart

Give my worrying mind rest!

Myself I give to thee, Father

I submit all dear ones of mine

May all of us be guarded, Lord

By your faithful angels divine!
