Why,
when, where, questions aplenty
Stand bowed-head to my seeking quest!
Why am
I to carry a cross un-wanted ?
A
thorny crown, why should I wear?
Why should my one heart’s
blood fall?
On the
rocky roads that my soul tear?
I am not the messiah, world to
redeem
Nor am
I born to burn myself to a test!
Who was
the monk at my door abegging
In holy
apparel with an extended bowl
Was it
the devil in heaven’s angelic form
With
hungry teeth on his selfish prowl
Was the
hawk blameless or sin-stained
To
clover its prey to dirty dining nest!
There’s
no one to answer, none to reply
No Guru
under a holy Bodhi tree to guide
A
burning light I follow through darkness
Across
bloody dangers none at my side
With a
little faith my forefathers left me
Trusting
one who knows the answers best!
