Because You Descended to This World

Because you descended to this world
A magic has touched this land;
An unexpected embrace has warmed me
I’m blessed by an unknown hand!

The parish church wears a starry robe
Outside there runs a fun- filled fair;
The stable  cribs on the street side
Raise higher the Christmas air.

Festive  food and drinks abound
And every family has a X-mas cake;
Believers and non-believers all
Whereof are thrilled to partake.

What’s divine and deeper this season
Human hearts are renewed in power;
To forgive and receive forgiveness
Blessing from above fall in shower.

The  weak have grown in strength
Lord, because of  your humble birth;
The unloved are loved in abundance
To the lengths and breaths of the earth.

A miracle is unfolding in my sight
In my very home near and around;
Lord, how can I render you thanks
for the grace wherewith  you  surround.

Two Days to Christmas

Two days to Christmas I look within
And around me. What a sight!
I am tattered and torn
How I’ll present myself to my Lord
At His nativity night?

On my soul I carry many a sin
The ailments that have defied cure
Unremitted  and unforgiven
Hurting every moment of living
Like my pauper poverty they endure!

The dignity of minimum joys will I gain?
The wishes of my longing sighs?
It’s going to be evening soon
The daylight is fast diminishing
But the stars are hidden behind skies.

“Surrender,” whispers a voice from the manger
Where on dry hay the infant is laid
The mother  the handmaid on its side
And the father standing on their service
“Easy  for myself couldn’t have I made?”

Torches of the Free Word

Why bow to a god shaped by hands
Why worship an idol made of clay?

It is you who placed the baked calf
On the majestic pedestal so high
From where it can only command
People of the land distant and nigh
And you prostrate to the profanity
Is it people’s rule or child’s play?

You are hallowed heralds of liberty
You are the torches of free word
What a shame, you have offered
Your life’s ideals to your idol lord
You devotees of the true and unseen
Why let your mind walk a mindless way?

Who should I trust in tumultuous world?
Whose voice must speak to enlighten?
Who’ll lead us in courage and wisdom?
When violent hands around us frighten?
Who will be a lamp till the break of day?

Colored Goggles

Don’t we see through colored glasses
And group the world in false classes!

Wear goggles of green
And everything looks green
Wear red glasses the world looks red
Foolish we are to accept it to be real
A colored world that we have created!
Dry hay for green grass passes!

Why don’t we want to observe
The truth and the truth to serve ?
When phenomenon invites us to perceive
With eyes freed of colored goggles
Should we prefer ourselves to deceive?
And to labyrinths mislead the masses!

Is Everything Fair in Love and War?

                Is the well known saying sound
That everything is fair in love and war?
Perhaps in war it holds water
when you are out to vanquish
and eliminate your enemy
There isn’t any moral bar!

So it goes in pseudo democratic combats
You battle to rob victory in the election
And trample your enemy
By all means, fair or foul
And seat yourself on the throne
No defect of yours is held dereliction!

Is it true in the realm of love,
Where self-sacrifice is the norm?
You never will injure the beloved;
Never wish the harm of the one you love
You desire victory and glory for the other
No, love assumes never a selfish form!

No, love is not envious of the other
Love is never cruel, love is kind
It doesn’t find faults and condemn
Its forgives and blesses even the foe
Oh, love can never be clubbed with war
In love, the very Godhead you find!
